194th Richest Man In The World

5-Simple Steps To Recruit Like
Steve Jobs? What The...

by Courtney Houde

You can love Steve Jobs, co-founder and chief executive officer of Apple, or hate him. But love him or hate him you can't deny that the man either knows what he's doing or he's on one hell of a winning streak.

Why do I say that? Well, for starters, Steve Jobs is the 194th richest man on the planet. He's also the single largest shareholder of Disney. His worth is estimated to be over 5.4 billion! (Yes, billion with a "b".)

Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but you don't make 5.4 billion by putting a blindfold on, spinning around three times, and pinning a tail on a donkey. You make it by being one of the savviest entrepreneurs on the planet.

So it wouldn't be a stretch to say that we could all learn a little something about marketing ourselves from one of the most successful individuals on our planet -- the leader of the "cult" of Mac.

But what could we learn? We could start by learning "A.P.P.L.E." The acronym they teach their sales staff:

"--Approach customers with a personalized warm welcome
--Probe politely to understand all the customer's needs
--Present a solution for the customer to take home today
--Listen for and resolve any issues or concerns
--End with a fond farewell and an invitation to return."

You see, their focus isn't on "getting" sales at all costs. Instead it's about it's about providing exceptional customer service. It's about earning sales.
